Today we watched video in class to help us get a better grasp on the size of an atom. Students answered four questions related to this topic in their notebook. (I have the sheets in class if you were absent). We also started looking at the history of atomic theory, particularly the work of Ernest Rutherford with his gold foil experiment. We will continue working with this activity on Monday AFTER we do our next Data Set Question!
Today we reviewed what matter is by doing a card sort of different items. You can check out the notes for that below! Students also receive two outlines (combined on one page together) today. I am pushing back the data set question for the until Monday when we should have everyone back in class! You can access them below if you did not get a copy or come see me during homeroom or 8th period to receive your copy.
We will have our first unit test tomorrow on everything from the beginning of the notebook up through dimensional analysis.
We have been working a lot this week with dimensional analysis in class to help us convert from one unit to another easily. We had some really awesome peer teaching experiences in class today and I am so proud of how these kids have tackled this concept. I have held off from posting about this because I didn't want to confuse anyone. Now that I feel like we have a grasp on it, I am including a video below that further explains it if you feel you need more help. Pre-AP students will also start learning how to change two units in the same problem as shown in the video below. We will continue working with it on Tuesday and then do our Unit 1 test on Wednesday of next week. Have a great long weekend! |
