Today we took our quiz on naming chemical compounds. Tomorrow we will move on to learning about the different types of chemical reactions and how to balance chemical equations.

I apologize for the lack of posting recently but our internet filter was not allowing me to access Weebly for updates at the school. I am posting everything that was missing below: Today we began naming chemical formulas using the chart above. We will continue this concept and then have a quiz using the chart above on FRIDAY! We've spent a good bit of time discussing chemical structure and the impact of lone pairs on the shape of molecules.
Today we started looking at the different types of bonding. We were only able to cover ionic, but we will continue with covalent and metallic after our quiz on electron configuration and orbital notation tomorrow!
Today we looked over the 9 weeks exam and then reviewed for our quiz on Wednesday. Tomorrow there will be a data set question on Outline 3.1 Part 2 (which student received today) and we will begin to look at bonding.
Today we worked with orbital notations and most of the class caught on fairly quickly. We will review this concept one more time on Monday and will quiz on Wednesday. I am including a video below for those who missed the class. We worked with electron configuration again today. I know it is still a bit confusing so I am posting a video that might help you understand what we are doing a little better! We will continue to work on this concept tomorrow. You can also find the homework assigned today below! Remember that I want you to try to write BOTH the long version of the electron configuration as well as the shorthand (Noble Gas) notation with the brackets. We will cover each of these tomorrow in class!
Many students missed class today due to NJHS inductions. They were supposed to come by and get their outline, but I am posting it here if they forgot! There will be a data set question on this outline when we get back from Fall Break on Wednesday of next week. Happy Fall Break!
CLICK HERE TO ACCESS THE OUTLINE! Students created a notecard in class that they will be able to use on the test! We will use the entire period for the test. Students will not be allowed extra time outside of this to complete their exam. They should come prepared enough to get through it in that time!
Today in class we did a little more work with density before beginning our note cards for the Unit 2 test that will be Thursday. There will be dimensional analysis from Unit 1 on the test as well Thursday, so I am posting some practice for this below! I will have answers available in class tomorrow!
