We then went on to make some observations about dry ice and phases of matter. We are just beginning to learn how matter changes state, so this activity was meant more to help me see what students are thinking about the changes and how energy plays a role in that change. We had LOTS of fun. Here's a SKITCH from 4th Period that I used as a formative assessment of their learning during this activity. Students were able to photograph what they were doing in the lab with the iPad and then annotate it using the Skitch app. Then they emailed it to me so I could check their understanding! | So far this week has been a crazy mixture of delays, early outs, and NOW possibly SNOW TOMORROW!?!?!?! AHHH! So here's a rundown of what has been going on intermittently in class. We began class with a question posed by one of my 7th period students: "Are bubbles a gas or a liquid?" Students had to justify their explanation and it appears that most students believe bubbles are a liquid. We will come back to that concept later! |
