Today we talked about what happens when waves reflect off of object or when they interfere with one another. This information will be great to use for the project! In addition to this, we will be adding information on resonance tomorrow!
Today we delved further into how to use different materials to make sound. Students were also assigned a 2 week long project to create some sort of musical instrument that plays at least three notes! This is a trash to treasure project once again so please do not BUY any materials! Also, if you are in need of a material that you cannot get, please ask and I will see what I can do! Check out the project below!
Today students finished up the lab circuit and we began notes dealing with waves. We will continue these notes below. I am unable to post pictures so I am posting the notes in PDF format. Today we started a unit on waves in class. Students participated in a pre-assessment brain dump to get them thinking about waves. (Some of these are posted below). We then split up to do several different explorations in class to help us think about waves. We will continue with this unit tomorrow giving students who did not finish a chance to finish. Due to testing this week, we are spending some time focusing on team-building activities! Today students were tasked with building the tallest tower they could out of nothing more than one sheet of cardstock and one foot of tape. Tomorrow there will be a new challenge! Welcome back from Spring Break! We are about to finish up learning about forces and motion this week and we will take a final exam on all of this information on FRIDAY, April 8th! Due to the long week away from school, we will be spending time in class reviewing for the test! Students can use the list below to help them review on their own:
1. Know the differences between balanced and unbalanced forces 2. Know how to calculate net force 3. Know what forces act on an object (draw a free body diagram) 4. Know which way an object will move based on a free body diagram 5. Be able to discuss how gravity and friction influence motion (For example: What causes gravity? What causes gravity to be stronger or weaker? What causes friction? What causes friction to be stronger or weaker?) 6. Be able to differentiate and understand each of Newton's 3 laws about motion. 7. Use Newton's 2nd law to calculate the force, mass, OR acceleration required. 8. Understand how a graph displaying distance and time relates to motion (We will cover this this week) |
