Today students were presented with an engineering and economics problem that they will work on in small groups/pairs over the course of this week in class. Students will be designing contraptions to protect an egg from a fall of 2 meters using only a supplied list of materials and a few extras from their own materials. Students not only have to design a contraption that will protect an egg, but they are also aiming to design the CHEAPEST system in their class! Students began the day by reading about the Mars Rover and how NASA considered many options when designing the vehicle. |
Students will be provided with a rubric tomorrow as they begin to plan a final design and cost analysis of their system. We will build the systems in class so any additional materials they decide to add from the lists below will need to be here by WEDNESDAY! Also, be sure to check out the rules below!
