Today we started Unit 4 on solution chemistry! We are currently exploring the differences between elements, compounds, and mixtures both at the atomic level and at the macro level. We will move on to examining mixtures more thoroughly tomorrow and after Thanksgiving break. Below are the notes I handed out! Be sure to come by and take your test if you missed it on Tuesday! We completed a fun activity where students used the letters in "Solution Chemistry" to create other words. We then took these words and made them into sentences and related this to elements, compounds and mixtures. We will begin tomorrow by sorting pictures of elements, compounds, and mixtures to help us understand what they look like on a "microscopic" level.
