For example, the independent variable in Maggie's experiment was the amount of acid in the soil. The dependent variable would be the growth of the plant and the controls would be the same amount of sunlight, same temperature, same plant, same pot, same soil.
Today we used this video to jump start a discussion about variables. We then applied this knowledge to the scenarios we wrote hypotheses for yesterday by identifying the independent, dependent, and control variables for each scenario.
